Winter World Series Quarterfinals: Canes 11, Virginia Stars White 3

Two-out runs played a big role as the Canes beat the Virginia Stars White 11-3 in the Winter World Series quarterfinals. Eight of the eleven runs were scored with two outs, including all four in a fourth inning that broke the game open. The game was ended by the run rule in the bottom of the fifth.

While the offense was collecting clutch hits, the defense played mostly airtight, turning in nearly one highlight reel play every inning. The victory advances the Canes to the semifinals against the Charlotte Nationals at 2 p.m.
