For the second time in as many meetings, the Canes and Tidewater Drillers played a hard-fought, back-and-forth game that wasn't decided until the final pitch. And once again, Evoshield had to come from behind, this time recovering from a 5-2 deficit after three innings to come back and earn a 7-6 victory in the bottom of the sixth.
Generating offense in Chesapeake was again a slight challenge, as the Canes were outhit for the fourth straight game. But the lineup figured out a way to churn out just enough runs, getting a big lift from three home runs along the way.
Comebacks have been a way of life here lately. In four of the last six victories, Evoshield has trailed after two innings. The goal for tomorrow is to get a couple of early leads. Bracket play begins at noon at Deep Creek Middle.

Dugout wisdom
Credit to Joe Taylor (not JT, but big Joe) for the line of the day. When Drew launched a titanic home run onto the tennis courts in the fourth, before he even got to first base, Joe shouted, "Game, set, match!"
