The Canes stormed back from a 4-1 deficit after three innings to take an 8-4 decision over Elite Squad (Hialeah, Fla.) in the PG Super25 quarterfinals.
The Evoshield offense had managed just one hit through the first three innings. But the hitters came to life in the fourth, as the Canes batted around and sent eleven batters to the plate, scoring seven of them.
In a slow-paced game, that turned out to be very timely, since the time limit expired after just four innings. Reid went the whole way on the mound. He got stronger as he went, retiring the final six hitters in a row.
The victory put the Canes in the national semifinals against Five-Star National. Three of the four teams in the PG Super25 semifinals came from the Canes' pool.

Dugout wisdom
Mason has a unique way of running the bases that is blindingly fast but also isn't always in complete agreement with Coach Sean's signals. After Mason scored in the fourth after running through a stop sign, Drew asked him, "Mason, are you just your own base coach?"
