14U D1 Super NIT Game 1: Canes 12, Rivercats 14U 3

The Canes made a solid debut in 14U D1 competition, playing up and coming away with a 12-2 win over the Rivercats in a game limited to four innings by the run rule.

Somewhat surprisingly, the offense recorded just four hits, but it also took advantage of seven walks in just three offensive innings to go with five errors. Seven of the 12 Canes runners who eventually scored originally reached by either a walk or an error.

Dugout wisdom
The field umpire was vigilantly keeping players out of the opening of the dugout, prompting Coach Kevin to announce, "I'm going to build a wall there to keep you guys away from it."

"I'll pay for it," Elias responded.

Players also had a fierce game of Baseball Jeopardy going during a couple of the long Canes innings. If you ever need someone to estimate the value of your pennies, Ty's your guy.
