In a game that had a little bit of everything--high-powered offense, great pitching, slick defense, mind-numbing heat, insects--the Canes shut out MVP Terps Red, 18-0.
Fun trivia fact: MVP Terps Red is a team from Vienna, Virginia. Or, as the sign says at the entrance to the city limits, "Home of world-renowned coach Sean Gallaher."
The win sets up perhaps one of the most important games in Canes history this afternoon. If the Canes win, they clinch one of the top two seeds, which means tomorrow's first game is at 10 a.m. If the Canes lose, they could end up in one of the 8 a.m. time slots, which means being in Rocky Mount at 7, which means getting up at...well, let's not even think about it.

Pitching Performances
Macon started and I guess he did OK if you like scoreless innings, but the real show was when Jake took the mound in the second and proceeded to throw two shutout innings.
Dugout Wisdom
There was a lengthy, multi-inning discussion of whether Virginia, Maryland and Baltimore are cities or states. So as not to affect anyone's promotion status for school in the fall of 2018, we're going to leave the participants nameless.
