The Canes began Summer World Series play with a 17-4 win over the Virginia Stars in a game that ended after three and a half innings due to the run rule. The game was never really in doubt after a big 11-run first inning that was one of the best offensive displays of the season, with 15 hitters coming to the plate.
The tournament format means teams play a whopping four pool play games, with the Canes slated to play two on Friday and two on Saturday.

- Against the very first hitter of the game, Ty knocked down a rocket of a line drive hit back to the mound and then threw to Chace at first to get the out.
- Gavin, Wes and Chace teamed up on a 6-4-3 double play to help get through a big jam in the second.
- Macon gunned down a runner trying to steal second to end the second.
- Wes dashed back and caught a pop up into shallow right in the fourth.
