In the most exciting game of the tournament so far, the Canes put together a three-run rally in the bottom of the fifth to get a 5-4 walk-off win against (fittingly) the Walk-Off Warriors.
For the first four and a half innings, it was another one of those games that won't go in the time capsule, as Canes pitchers issued seven walks. Even with those free bases, though, the Canes still held a 2-1 lead going into the top of the fifth. But that's when the Warrior bats got hot, as they plated three runs with just a few minutes remaining in the time limit.
That set the stage for a frenetic rally. Wes got it started by sacrificing his body to wear a fastball, and three hits and a walk later, Jake was at the plate as the timer went off to signal the end of the time limit. A few seconds after the home plate umpire made his very presidential announcement that time had expired, Jake roped a bullet to score Colin with the winning run. The Canes finished 4-0 in pool play and will be the second seed in tomorrow's bracket action. Most importantly, that means the first game is at 10 a.m. rather than 8 a.m.
