In a rematch of a bracket play game, the Canes prevailed over the Virginia Stars, 9-1. Great pitching carried the victory, with Chace turning in a very effective start and Wes finishing it up with spotless relief work. The game was shortened to five innings by the run rule.
After the Canes raced to a 7-0 lead after three innings, the Stars tried to mount a rally in the fourth. They scored one run and then loaded the bases with no outs, bringing Wes out of the bullpen (well, really, he came out of the infield). He immediately induced a line drive double play, then fired a strikeout looking to end the threat and essentially end the game.
The victory meant the Canes got the privilege of driving to the very lively Nash Central High.
Semifinal Canes scoring plays
First inning
Gavin singled and went to second on a balk. Drew doubled him home, then scored on a single from Wes.

Gavin doubled and scored on a single from Chace. Drew doubled, and then Wes smacked a two-run double. Macon's double scored Wes. Eli's single brought home Macon.

Drew and Wes singled. Bennett walked. Eli's fielder's choice scored one, and a wild pitch scored Wes.

After hearing a heated discussion about whether hot water is steam, Shannon said with exasperation, "You guys are so stupid!" It was said with love, though.
